Forum announcement - 2 March 2018 - it has now been a month since AusRotary relaunched and things are going great. In that time, we have had over 800 registered users access the site (on top of tens of thousands of guests), which just goes to demonstrate that this community still means a lot to so many people even if they don't post here regularly. The positive reception and feedback you have given regarding the improved layout and new functionality has been much appreciated. With your help, we have further fine tuned a few things and improved website speed & performance. But we're not done yet, with plans to continue introducing new features to make this place better and better. An example is our new post like system (link) which we encourage you all to use generally (especially if you are a forum lurker!). There are more ideas in the pipeline too, so stay tuned!

In the meantime, the best way to keep this community going is by posting new content and sharing photos/videos/articles/events you come across. If you were going to put it on social media, post it here too - many of our members don't use popular social media platforms whatsoever. Sharing content directly to and from AusRotary is now easy, so don't be shy.

Thanks again for all your loyal support and the great build logs, tech advice and knowledge you contribute.

Allan Moffat Garage Sale– SEPTEMBER 5-6 Fathers Day weekend

#1 Post by motorculture » Wed Sep 02, 2015 4:36 pm

Fans will have the chance to snap up some rare memorabilia as racing royalty Allan Moffat prepares to close his famous workshop in Toorak, Melbourne.

The 75-year-old Moffat has elected to sell the property, where he has operated his racing and business affairs since 1961.

The workshop housed all of Allan Moffat Racing’s famous competition vehicles over four decades before being rented by a Porsche repair business in recent years.

With the land to be redeveloped by its new owners, Moffat’s son and current V8 Supercars driver James is organising a garage sale that will offer a variety of items to the public.

“It’s been a big job going through it all but there’s a lot of interesting bits and pieces that we’ve dug up,” said Allan Moffat

“There’s a lot of unique items like Allan Moffat Racing toolboxes and workshop benches, ANZ sponsor banners and Peter Stuyvesant pit boards, as well as some model cars and magazines."

“It’s sad in a way to see the workshop going. I’ve got memories of being in there when I was a kid, but reality dictates that everything has got to move on at some point.”

The sale will run over the September 5-6 Father’s Day weekend at 711 Malvern Rd, Toorak VIC 3142, starting at 8am Saturday with plenty of memorabilia from the 1960s through the 1980s available. Don’t miss it!
