While in the U.S. last month, I picked up a rear spoiler for my Buick wagon. It's 6 ft long, but weighs nothing. UPS quoted my friend who is forwarding it to me US$340!!! Ant better ideas for international freighting?

DO NOT USE NORTHLINE FREIGHT

i just had the worst experience with this company...i'm currently sending a set of mags and tyres from melbourne to queensland and i was quoted just under $80...the dimensions were about 900x900x1000 and weight was 70kg...i calculated everything a little over so there wouldn't be any dramas...

payed in full...waited over the weekend...i get a phone call this morning from the stupid woman who sent me the quote, saying they need another $200 ON TOP of the $80 i have already paid, all because i did not specify what vehicle i need to pick up the package? seriously..WTF? how do i know what vehicles that use? they were going to charge me another $200 for a 3 tonne tray truck to come and pick up a 1 x 70kg package...and on top of this, the girl i was dealing with was giving me attitude? "don't speak to me in that tone!"...how does, 'i'm pissed off cause you're asking me for another $200' sound?

on the quote it does state...
Northline Freight wrote: "Prices do not include demurrage, forklift, crane hire or tailgate delivery unless otherwise specified."
after seeing the details of the package (size and weight), she sould have informed me of this additional charge before payment was made...

i ended up giving this girl the flick and speaking to her manager...he admited fault on behalf of the girl i was dealing with and in no way was it my fault...i have been given a full refund and he is going to help organise for another carrier...

if i need to use freight in the future, i will not be using this company...i'd rather pay extra and have no hassels!

after a number of phone calls back and forth...they have since refunded my money and i'm back looking for a new freight company...

i can understand some people may have good experiences with this company, but this was onr of the bad ones...

A word of warning to all!

Stay well clear of hunter express!

I had 4 wheels couriered from Qld to Sydney, 4 landed in Sydney, 2 stayed in Sydney, one got sent to Melbourne and the other one only god knows where it is.

So now I have 3 nice rims at home that I can't use because they are no longer available and hunter express can't freight 4 boxes to the same address, you'd need half a brain for that.
