There is also the option of using a later model speedo from a single distributor RX2 or later model 1600 Capella, which will fit the twin distributor dashboard, the only problem is the reset pin for the trip meter comes out in a different position to the early model and so cannot be used, not a huge big deal. It also requires the later model speedo cable which simply clips on at the rear instead of screwing on like the early version.

Attached is a picture when I did the conversion using the single distributor (Series 3 in retarded speak) speedo as I liked the 140 mph graduation better, the same style speedo from later in 1974 is kilometres per hour only so that would be the one to use if you do not want any mph showing.

which models had the rear garnish? was it an optional extra? or a standard thing on all series 1+2 rx2's? And what was the orignal colour of these panels? Black / Grey or both?

all twin distributor models (round tail lights) had the rear garnishes (In Australia at least, some countries like the USA did not have them),
they were a medium to dark grey colour.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a workshop manual please?

To suit the later 1976 model, allthough the engine side of things are different now (13B turbo), having a reference for the rest of it would be nice.

Have a look at these?
