Hard wiring a varex - help needed

#1 Post by jdmrx2 » Mon Aug 31, 2009 2:48 pm

One for the electricians...
A mate has just bought a new ride with a remote control varex on it. The remotes are VERY tempremental, so he wants to hard wire it to a mom on/off/mom on switch on the dash and throw the remotes in the bin.

What would be the best way to wire this up? Way out of my electronics league........

Cheers,
Benn.

Hey Benn, my remotes work fine... it depends on how the antenna is set up and if the remotes still have the crappy chinese batteries in them.
I put quality batteries in mine and haven't had any dramas at all. Having said that, it's been too long since I've looked at the wiring so couldn't tell you off the top of my head. Shouldn't be too tricky.

Cheers Ben.
New batteries (energizers) have been put in, still a pain in the butt. He wants to get rid of the remotes. Just trying to figure out how to wire a 6 pin mom on/off/mom on switch to reverse polarity the motor for up and down. Anyone got a diagram?

Hey,
Sorry to bump this back from the past, but did you find out about this bro? I'm buying a varex this coming weekend and want to run it off a switch on my dash instead of fiddling with remotes..

i take it this is a silencing exhaust?

it will have an electric motor, which is easy to hard wire

should have 2 terminals on the motor 1 positive & 1 negative

you need to buy a double throw dual pole switch, it will have 6 pins
wire it up like this(but change the window motor to the muffler's motor)
make sure you get 1 that can handle the power required, if in doubt go to your local JayCar they will help you
