NEW FEATURE: Post Like system!!!

At long last, we have successfully implemented a comprehensive post rating/like system. With casual readers and visitors vastly outnumbering frequent posters, it is not always apparent to users that others are reading, enjoying and grateful for their posts. If you are too shy to post and want to express your thanks, now you can!

Liking a post is easy - click this thumbs up in the top right hand corner of the post: Image

Can I encourage everyone to use this new feature enthusiastically and liberally and be sure to go back to your favourite old topics and like old posts. This will help build up useful user 'like' profiles and give credit to the users who has provided so much value to this community. This in turn helps guests and newcomers sort useful answers and posters from others.

This goes to regular forum lurkers especially - please show your appreciation with a 'like'!

Featuring:
  • Liked post counters in every user profile (given & received)
  • Liked post leaderboard accessible from the index and Quick Links Menu
  • Receive notifications when your post is liked, configurable from the User Control Panel (in forum notification and/or email notifications available or off)
  • You can remove a like if you made a mistake by clicking the undo button where the thumbs up used to sit (but the user will be notified)
  • Plus more

Read the announcement and post any queries, comments or suggestions HERE

Once read, this announcement can be dismissed by clicking on the 'X' in the top right hand corner.

That green RX-2 was the quickest car around, and went to Australia, and has lived there for a decade or two.

I know Tony very well and he indicated it was coming back to NZ, but I'm not sure if it's here yet.

Tony is an official Safety Car driver for Motorsport NZ, and at most of the track events.
Has a huge collection of pics he's taken at events, think he said over 20,000. Often from 'on the track'.

The other pic, thats actually Bill Shiels, 'The' Rotary God.
He developed the PP and BP concept in the early 70's, and when Mazda Japan found out what he was doing, took him to Japan to show them what he was up to.
Then it was called Stage1, Stage2, Stage3, Stage 4 etc.

Bill passed away about 3-4 years ago.

The car in the pic is Rod Millens Mazda Works rally car which won the NZ Rally champs a few times.

Series 1 and 2 RX2's on the same shipping yard.
Mind blown... :micro:

Kidding mate, great pic!

Just outta interest that white Capella/RX2 (third car in on left) has a different badge on the rear quarter, any ideas? American RX2 maybe?

  I literally lol'd

I'd say it's an rx2 destined for a country where they were called that. I was going to say it could be a 616 too, which has the same style badge as the rx2, but the C pillar badge tells me otherwise.

It's a very interesting photo that one, with both RHD and LHD cars pictured together, so clearly different export market specs, not Series 1 and 2.

Looking at what we can see you'd have to think 1972, with RHD square headlight models (similar to Aus spec with vented bonnet) and LHD twin headlight models with humped bonnet (which match 1972 USA spec, they had twin round lights from the beginning because of their design rules). That would make all Capella's pictured Series 1, be they square or twin round headlight, vented or humped bonnet, gee that well and truly screws it all up hey :moon:

A high res version would be golden as yep that Capella left of pic has a different style badge again on the rear 1/4.

First thought about the blue one in the front was Ford Anglia….

Surely the Japs weren't copying the poms' best efforts.

Hate to see their take on a Morris Marina :)
