Wayne ran 11.7@118mph with the Bridge Port.

When Wayne got into the 9 Second Street Car Club as the eighth qualifier, he was actually the fastest of the lot at the time with his 9.78@143.4mph time. The others had all scraped in with either a 9.8 or 9.9.

Wayne's RX-3 was also stated as being as close to a legal 9 second car as you could get in the group, which is a big compliment and testament to just how good Wayne's effort was.

To me that RX-3 is by far the most historical drag racing Rotary in Australia, and is still doing its thing at the front of the field 27 years later

I agree Dazz, mate I love that car more than my own, think it was in the first if not 1 of the 1st FFR with an RX2 which also ran 9's in 88,does Waynes car still have a hilux???I heard so,glad Andrew has taken the reigns,if he is anything like his old man he will hold legend status for many years also. But 11.7 back in 84 with no boost is crazy, well just as crazy as 7.6@182 I guess,my mags are in storage so I cant look for it,If anyone can find the old pics please put some up. Cheers Darren

My old boss used to be best mates with Wayne Dyson in the 70's and 80's.
He had stacks of old photos, and several home movies of him and Wayne's crazy racing days, and shit they used to get up to.
Craig Dyson was just a Kid at the time and copped a lot of shit on the movies.
Shame i dont see him anymore, there was some awsome Racing on some of the movies, they were running 9/10 second quaters in Bridgeport Alterds in the late 70's i think it was, and some of the footage of the RX3 and others was awesome to see.

Is that in the shopping arcade on Hon-dori? I remember seeing some old Mazda in a shop when in Hiroshima in 2003 and taking a photo (photo long gone...). I couldn't remember whether it was a Cosmo or not, and subsequent trips to Hiroshima (2008 + 2010), I couldn't find the car again. If so solves a mystery for me. Thanks
