NEW FEATURE: Post Like system!!!

At long last, we have successfully implemented a comprehensive post rating/like system. With casual readers and visitors vastly outnumbering frequent posters, it is not always apparent to users that others are reading, enjoying and grateful for their posts. If you are too shy to post and want to express your thanks, now you can!

Liking a post is easy - click this thumbs up in the top right hand corner of the post: Image

Can I encourage everyone to use this new feature enthusiastically and liberally and be sure to go back to your favourite old topics and like old posts. This will help build up useful user 'like' profiles and give credit to the users who has provided so much value to this community. This in turn helps guests and newcomers sort useful answers and posters from others.

This goes to regular forum lurkers especially - please show your appreciation with a 'like'!

Featuring:
  • Liked post counters in every user profile (given & received)
  • Liked post leaderboard accessible from the index and Quick Links Menu
  • Receive notifications when your post is liked, configurable from the User Control Panel (in forum notification and/or email notifications available or off)
  • You can remove a like if you made a mistake by clicking the undo button where the thumbs up used to sit (but the user will be notified)
  • Plus more

Fullboost & Rotary Race Cars - Project Redline

#1 Post by Benno » Mon Jul 10, 2017 3:55 pm

I'm not sure how many here have seen this, but one of our own is building a drag car and making a youtube series in conjunction with the guys at Fullboost.

Older forum users will know Keiser Soze (MrParts/Rotary Race Cars owner) - seems he's found an old chassis that might also look familiar to some of the older Melbourne rotary drag people. Great content for guys looking to build cars on a budget!

Definitely worth a watch if you're interested in doing something similar. I'm curious as to how fast he'll be able to run!

New episodes seem to drop Thursday nights/Friday mornings - best to subscribe to Fullboost and use the notifications though! I'll be updating this post as the new episodes drop.

Yep I've been watching it, quite good so far. I've been a fullboost visitor since the beginning and it's been really good to see them try new content ideas.

Ben definitely has the datto still. I caught up with him a few months ago.

He also has his Skyline GTR...which has broken down numerous times while the rotary has delivered nothing but reliable goodness.

Racing cars is fun
Building cars is even more fun
Reading youtube comments from fucking idiots who live in their parents basement are not so fun

I think there are going to be approx 13 episodes all up. Its a shit tonne of work, and i essentially put all major customer work besides engine building of for a long time in order to devote all time to it, and was made even harder having to set up cameras and film everything, so i hope everyone enjoys it!

Excellent, just got the YouTube notification :bounce: Really enjoying these, especially the hater comments. There seem to be 2 basic template troll responses: (1) boost in, apex seals out; (2) those welds are ugly

Yeah, first you get the morons who dont understand any fabrication principals at all, and just think every piece needs to sit dead flush against one another and should only be 'fusion' welded, then you get the coward trolls who wouldnt dare have an opinion of their own just waiting for someone else to first say something, then agree with them like the sheep they are.

Considering the weight it has to hold, and the distance from the mounting face, all weld joins were properly spaced apart, a root pass was done, followed by a main pass as well. I dont think any of the gronks in the comments would under stand what a root pass is, let alone had a root in their whole life   I could throw this thing off a roof without putting a mark on it, its bulletproof (but thats clearly irrelevant because it should have just been fusion welded, so the weld looked AWESOME even though you reduce the wall thickness from 6mm down to about 3mm and take all the strength out of the join... but youtube commentators know best!)

Everyone just sees finished product always after its been sandblasted and painted, but no one dares show what shit looks like (especially not grose mild steel steam pipe because it doesnt weld 'sexy' compared to staino or ally) during the process. We'll show the finished product off in a few weeks, but im sure the trolls will have to stick by their comments and hate some more. Hope so, just adds to the views lol
