Yeah, but you're kidding yourself if you think Capellas handle any better just cos they don't use leafs. Look at the racing history for that

By all means do an 808 to "RX-3 specs", but it's still an 808 [-(

I can see everyone's point of view and I'm not just being a fuck, but I honestly don't see the problem if its being done to exact rx3 specs. And I mean exact.
If you had an rx3 that was Swiss cheese, quite literally useless, you'd just send it to the auto recyclers?
Im in this exact situation.
Just laid down a deposit on a very tidy 808.
Have a genuine 74 sedan rolling shell, wouldnt call it swiss cheese, but still sad condition, but in my current situation, am unable to do anything with it - If it was an 808, would scrap it.
Had it for 10 years, and would give my left nut, the misses, and probably the right nut as well to just have it in colour even.
But i couldnt cut her up and replace the 808 with all the bits that are RX3 related only... Would still be the same 808 anyway, you just may not realize, just glorifying an 808, and 'completely' destroying an RX3.
Rather give it to someone who might have a better chance to do something with her for few hunge, and a ride in the passenger seat one day maybe...

Alot of people dont want to spend big dollers on a rx3 thats had quarters, and god knows what else replaced on it,and in some cases always thinking at the back of your mind it could be a number job!or sitting in the garage for ten years in bare metal, fuck that lifes to short!

At least with an 808 suprisingly you still have a good chance in finding an UNTOUCHED one for a reasonable price.geez they came off the same production line didnt they?

Yes its sweet having genuine ive owned nothing but genuine but seriously
Its rx3's were talkin about here we all no they have all had the d*€k and if you have one that hasnt had anything replaced and is not full of bog/repairs and 808 and repro parts and has factory paint somewhere still left on it then good luck to you you are very lucky. :D

I know what i would rather have any day for half the price tag :D :D

To me it all boils down to how the car is sold. If it is an 808 with all rx3 parts and specs and tags and it is sold as such with the price reflecting this no problem.

The problems come when some greedy cunt sells the car knowing it is a rebirth at genuine prices. If peeps were honest it wouldnt be a problem but too many dishonest theiving fucks in the world these days.

Thats rx3's for ya mate its nothing new and is very common.

What amazes me is that thers people out there that know there buying a suspect number job and dont give a shit.

Me personally numbers dont worry me too much its knowing whats under the paint and the extent of repairs the car has had

Yep if it's custom interior auto meter dash 13b turbo, 18" wheels 9 " diff, coil overs, custom paint who cares if it an 808 or rx3  IMO I'd rather a mint 808 than a rusted to fuck every panel welded up rx3, the good thing about rx3 tags is no engineering for a 12a...edit font even need that now!

exactly,
unless you a collector after mint original cars then it dont bother me,
rx3 or 808 with same gear = same thing to me worth same price imo.
the only thing i dont like about selling tags and numbers is if they get used on stolen cars,
but as for 808 vs rx3 argument eh same car different number

you guys are in the minority, i'd guess, based on the prices paid for rx's compared to their piston cousins.

but i can't dispute that you hold that opinion and you're kind of lucky that you can look at your hypothetical 808 as being equally desirable and collectible to you personally.

i'd suggest that by the dollar scale, you will find a mint 808 will pass the shitty rx3 in dollar value at some point of the scale i.e. the world's mintest 808 is worth more than the world's shittiest rx3 (unless the only buyer in the market is looking to take his newly resto'd rx to pebble beach, then he is precluded from buying the 808).

but my feeling is that equal condition cars will always see the genuine rx being worth more (don't ask me for the multiple linear regression analysis results haha). obviously 'equal' is near impossible.. but in theory.

i'm generalising about the 'market' and the 'majority'... we'll always find someone that prefers their Leyland P76 over these 'hard riding little buzz boxes'.

My 808 is now a rx3 mock up but I'd never even think of changing the id, what's the point? End of the day I bought an 808 cause I wanted to modify it and I didn't want to molelst a genuine rx3 (I think they should all be restored 2 factory spec). If the day ever comes to sell I will sell it as a rx replica and include all the 808 bits incase someone wants to restore it back to original.. The telling factor is too look at the cars advertised and the prices, either way they are around the same $$ for similar cars. They are both desirable cars, sure a rx3 has pedigree but once it's gone it's gone, 1 less on the road... Supply and demand

The identification tags have been sold and they are most likely in the wrong hands to be used to deceive. These could be used on a stolen RX3, 808 to rebirth it or used on a legal 808 rebirth to an RX3. Any of these options are not good because as a result of this someone is more than likely going to be ripped!!!

It's amusing how many people write they wouldn't care if they had a 808 with RX3 numbers, come on give us a break. If you just paid 40k for an RX3 only for it to be determined later it's actually an 808, that would be ok?

A genuine RX3 is always going to be worth more money than a dressed up 808 with or without a number job. If an RX3 has had replacement sections or not its still the same car at the end of the day.
