S3 RX-7 model range.

#1 Post by AD RX » Tue Mar 13, 2007 10:22 pm

I have a few road test where they refer to S3 as the following:

Sport $19,490
Delux $20,300
Limited $21,990

options: S/roof and two tone metalic paint extra $670

Has anybody got any reliable/useful info on this, can mazda or one of you guys decode the chassis number of these cars to determain what spec it is.

As fas as I now and seen:

*the standard 14" S3 mags were standard on all S3's,(optional 929 wheels were also available however i only seen one S3 with those wheels from factory) but i don't think this was a standard issue on any of the above models.
*black small foam wing(sports model i think)
*interior is the same on all S3(except the colors)
*I have seen cruise control on all S3 i have looked at.

The only options I was aware of was the ones mentioned above.

any info would be great

The sports model did not come with electrics and sunroof but, did get the rear wing and was a lot lighter than other S3's.
The deluxe was a standard S3 with option of the sunroof. and
The ltd edition had all options, including sunroof and two tone paint with the option of the rear wing.

That above is my under standing of the S3 line up.

farrrr that looks mint! ^^

lucky bastard :P

Some random info that might help you..

The stereos in OZ spec s3s' had two specs as far as i know.

There was the tape/radio/time combo unit in the upper mount with the EQ. and fader knob down below or, on the lower spec model, there was the radio/tape player in the upper position with an EQ or storage pocket in the lower mount, and a digital clock in position of the fader knob.

Dunno if that helps identify what model the car is, coz it may have been optional no matter what model.

There are a few other differences but none of the other options were avail in OZ spec cars.

Something else to look for might be mudflaps and wheel arch trims. Some s3 rx7s came out with mudflaps that said 'rx7' in the same font as the quarter badge, whilst earlier mudflaps had the 'rx7' in the same font as written on the rear cargo blind.

Alex :)

What is it with red stripes on red S3 RX-7's? Mine doesn't have it, but I've noticed that T7's red S3 has it as well.

Maybe it's something that was added/deleted mid run??

There is nothing to decode in the chassis number BTW. It's just a sequential run from the first of that series.

The standard car was what you call the "Deluxe".

The "Limited" added power windows, electric mirrors, headlight washers and tape deck with graphic plus joystick balancer. Two-tone paint and sunroof were options on the "Limited".

I'm not sure just how stripped out the "Sports" was. There was a steel wheel listed on the brochure....

I'm aware of a separate "Sports" brochure. It was a black and white ugly looking thing with bugger all in it. The "Sports" was easily identified by the rear spoiler.....I think they all had it.

Ive never seen an australian s2 or three with no power options, ive heard of the bathurst/moffat ones but i think it might be abit of a wives tale.. maybe the same person that started the rumor that 'only 150 s3's were imported with the grey interior'..

The red stripes look good, ive seen them on s2's as well.

All oz del. models afaik had front headlight washers too.

Not according to that brochure above. The colour brochure I have here indicates they were a "Limited" only fitment.

That said, most Aussie S3 RX-7's were "Limited's", I believe.

no rear window wiper. and its not just removed and plugged, there are no holes in the glass for the motor to bolt to at all.

After i purchased it i was chating to a guy who mentioned it might be a light weight "Sport" model, but i thought he was talking shit,,, maybee not hey.

No, I don't have it.

There is a motoring bookshop in Burke Rd, Camberwell, Victoria that does have it though.

Look them up if you want one.

Hi,

I think you are talking about the "Euro Pac" Ser3 Rx7. Which is what mine is!!!!!

They have no Electric windows, no sun roof, with rubber rear wing, lightened glass all round (thinner grade),
lightened rear hatch glass (with no rear wiper) and apparntley the rear 4 link Mazda used is of a stronger grade steel!!!
(so i have been told in the past.)

I think that were made by Mazda for track designed cars Moffat etc, with racing in mind....lighter but stronger!!!!

My rear end bars have not been touched from factory Mazda, and i have given it nuts over the years!!!!

Not sure how many were made??

You can generally pick them up cheaper because of the no electrics!!!

People have re named them "Pov Pac" (meaning cheap), but i didnt care knowing what i wanted to do with the car!!!
