^ They dynoed 420rwhp (dyno dynamics) on a modified F40
Chip, exhaust and small boost increase

http://www.ktrperformance.com/dyno_tuni ... orsche.php
Taken from above site, they dyno quite a few exotics.

Now purpose of this is my SP at moment is @ 318rwhp on stock motor and twins and weight is 1210kg

A F40 is a 1100kg kerb weight car (so fuel and driver on top must be added) a stock F40 (478bhp motor power) does 126 to 127mph and 11.9 sec qtr's

I am pulling some weight from the FD and modernizing the motor with better apex seals, some porting and better OEM based turbochargers ............ can I reach F40 performance levels with a near stock FD platform????

I am going to give it a go.

I have a time slip article of when an Australian F40 was raced at Calder park amyn years ago. He did 12.23 @ 127.9mph with stock total stock engine (478bhp) run weight was about 1240kg

There are some interesting parrallels

2936cc V8 1.1bar boost 478bhp (stock)
2616cc 13B 0.95 bar boost 410bhp (stock)

120lt fuel tank V's my 110lt tank :P
205kph terminal speed V's my 185kph
(^ + 100kg - 70bhp as it stands now)
Another factory article I have quotes the terminal speed in the 1/4 mile as 201.8kph@11.9 seconds

It kills me on weight, but will be deleting alot of crap out of the car and it will be much closer ;) I should be able to match the stock power but will aim for the modified F40 output just to be sure to cover weight disadvantge..... again sticking with twin platform.

I dunno but there are 1311 Ferrari F40's V's 35 factory made SP's (25 homologation cars and 10 add on's) so I know which is more rare .....

But if you look in trading post around Bankstown there is about 1500 original SP's for sale any given week

you *may* be able to match it in power and weight figures, but you have to remember thats a ferrari, with other extras other than power and weight, for instance, a very aerodynamic design, braking capabilitys and the wank factor...

i think he has you on the last one.

The CD is worse than on the FD (SP model) and the frontal area is only slighly less (so its line ball in aero dynamics) basic figures for 0-400m test show that at current performance levels. The FD platform does 185mph 300kph with 400bhp the F40 does 201mph 324kph (just) with 480bhp so its line ball ;)
*Brakes...lol my brakes are almost same spec (dimensions and caliper spec) as on F40 but are much better as they run carbon racing pads SBS DC v's F40's Pagid RS4-2 and also have ABS ;) If your not wearing a seat belt you will get thrown through the windshield @ 160kph when I stand on them :) *not much can outbrake me* ;)

Wank factor I cant match ;) but it would be nice to match the basic performance :D

The price you pay when you decide its more important for your car to stick to the road than be slippery at over 200 kph

I know what Id rather have.........

The F40 was designed and made pre wind tunnel days at Ferrari, its pretty shit house CD wise and does not have that much down force *its got a shit load of drag though lol*, the SP has actualy more and has lower CD to boot ;)

Their IMSA GTO version and Le-mans car had canards all over the shop and proper rear wing as in the first pics I posted to resolve their aero issues, too many ducts and slats all over body work = poor aero efficency, but it does look fucken sick 8) cant take that away from it :!:

My fav car of all time by a LONG WAY !

Pete Halsmer beat the Ferrari 700+bhp LM F40 (driven by Jean Alesi) @ quite a few races in USA in the 4 rotor 600bhp FC body shell based car. I will be happy if I can beat the road car version

It sticks to the road like glue  I would like to see both FC and FD change lanes at 320 KPH

My most memorable F40 experience was seeing and hearing Lindsay Fox's one having a blat on one of his museum open days. Awesome sound.

my fav F40 experience was going out to a QR practice day and seeing one there. the dude was from the UK and had done the adelaide classic (few yrs ago) and was just taking a trip around to all the tracks in Aus. its a tough life for some

it had an aftermarket exhaust, sounded amazing. he let us get up close and have a sit in it and that. the doors couldnt weigh more that about 10-15kgs, bloody CF

aynway rice, good luck :P
